Chicken oddities: what’s something you wish your chicken/chickens didn’t do?

Here’s a good one! So EVERY night before bed I check the chickens, (I don’t know why, I tuck them in before roost) and JC my black Austrolorp, always sleeps in the corner next to the rooster. ALWAYS.
Tonight I go check on everyone and I don’t JC! Gomez is there, but LULU is in JCs place. I look along the roost and no JC. I’m freaking out “where is she?!?!” I’m looking in nesting boxes, the floor, I’m lifting chickens up maybe she’s under a fat hen..I called my husband worried outta my mind. He comes down to the coop, and he finds her on the window ledge on the opposite side of the coop. Sigh hubby thinks she moved because she’s molting and growing tons of pin feathers, and may be sore. So she wants to be by herself. I however think chickens like to see me all loopy and crazy.

I had a similar ordeal!!! I went to the coop to tuck mine in and check for random eggs and didn't see my Australorp hens next to my rooster, JB, where the usually are. So I'm looking around everywhere and when I look up I see 3 hens crammed on this little tiny ledge where my coop's vents is. And these things are probably 10ft off the ground and probably 6ft form the perch! Leave it to the Australorps to find the highest roost !

They're so insane! They're names were Blacky, Darky and Inky (as you can see I'm very creative lol) I actually have 2 of their granddaughters now, Diane and Danielle

Awww. I’ve got the first daughter of my only Austrolorp ready for hatch any day now. I wasn’t planning on hatching this late in the year, but my Americauna went broody and hid two eggs. One of which is my austrolorps. I let my young children name most of my birds. I’ve got a cookie, muffin, noodle, marshmallow, licorice, popsicle..you can see where their minds are lol
