Chicken....on the head

I'd like to think she was after the coffee.....

This was a surprise to the wife and I. Our three flap around a bit, and do stretch their wings when they can, but we've never had one fly UP! This is Pot Pie, our Buff Orpington.

Oddly enough, the one she did drop missed my back completely. Granted, it landed on my leg....

It was a complete surprise. I mean, I know they are birds....they have wings. I was not aware of the fact that they could actually fly that far at that young an age. The wife just laughed and ran to get the camera. Pot Pie just sat there complacently. Seemed to be quite proud of herself for getting up there.

Heh....Bridget399, thanks for the idea. If I did everything right, that should be my avatar now.

She's living up to the name. When she settles down and fluffs out, she does kind of resemble a pot pie....
I also can't wait until they are full grown and attempt the head-landing thing. I fear I'll end up in the ER with one heck of an explanation to tell!
