Hi all, I'm a beginner in the chook world and was sold 2 "Silkies", a black and a buff. The black one was older and "definitely female" I was told (will upload pic). Currently the younger of the two is abiut 3x the size of the black one and is looking a lot like something from Jurassic Park! Any suggestions on breed/sex please?

The Black one is close to 12 months and the buff around 6 months. Hopefully it's head will catch up to its body!! Surely itsi not pure silkie Though?
Not sure if this pic helps. Someone's gone camera shy

I would have to say rooster. its hard to tell with silkies for me, so don't just take my word for it. maybe someone with more experience can chime in :)
cute birds though!

The buff isn't pure Silkie in my opinion. Either that or it just got a lot of bad traits. The comb is wrong, skin color is wrong, leg feathering is wrong, pattern is wrong for a buff.

I agree with all above.
They are both male.
The buff is definitely not a pure silkie.

Thank you for your reply. They're both real characters and i love them to bits but living in suburbia, I'm not supposed to have roosters
