The ladies and Marco Pollo refuse to leave the coop when there’s snow on the ground. We’re bracing for 12-15 inches by tomorrow so we made a little pavilion for them to hang out in and be able to leave the coop:) They may or may not be spoiled, but oh well. I prefer it that way!😂

We "only" had about 7 to 8 inches of snow last week, whipped into giant drifts because of the flatness of northern Iowa and its endless winds.

So what is the first thing I do when we have monster snowfalls? Dig paths to the chicken coops, of course! Clear away enough snow in the runs that they COULD come out, if they want to -- and most don't.

Congrats on building their pavilion; all mine got were some tarps and sheet plastic.

Spoil those chickens as much as you can, but don't throw out your back if you shovel their pathways! Hope your weathercasters overestimated the amount of snow. No one needs 15 inches of white stuff.

BTW, love the rooster's name!

We ended up with just over a foot of snow. When I opened the coop door they poked they’re heads out in disgust. I cleared a path to the pavilion and threw some straw down and they slowly started coming out one by one. They still only come out for about 20 minutes at a time but atleast they get to stretch their legs lol
