I have R.I. Reds. I have two that have very, bad, bloody backsides. They have no tail feathers. The other chicken have been pecking them causing more bleeding. What can be done about the pecking, and what can I do to help the injured ones? Any one have any solutions other than seperating them from the flock?

Chicken are cannibals and will all peck at a injured bird if they see any blood. They will gang up and can kill quickly. You need to get bloody birds out NOW until they heal some. Blood can be covered with Blu Kote, a purple antiseptic spray to cover and help heal. It is available at Home & Farm, Tractor Supply, etc

I learned that all was needed was to let them out of the pen. I have a 6'X12' chicken house with a 6'X15' run, and I was certain that it would be sufficient for 15 R.I. Reds. But since I let them roam free they have quit bothering the pecked one, and she is healing up. Now I just lock the pen after they go in at night, and let them out in the morning, and it seems that everything is good in my chicken world.
