Oooo really? I love those breeds!
Silver spangled Hamburg, 4 differnt colored silkies, porcelain d'Uccle, golden sebright, New Hampshire red, Easter eggers, Easter Egger bantam, buff Orpington, salmon Favorelle, white leghorn, light brahmas, black copper maran, black jersey giant. I know it's a lot! Lol.

SSHs are an amazing bird. I've got one, and she's dazzlingly beautiful! You think that's a lot of breeds, but in reality you would be horrified by all the varying "ethnicities" we have right now!

We are suffering from a sickness, and it's called CHICKEN MATH.

Thanks so much, everyone!

So far, he's only loud when something happens that he doesn't like. Then, he sounds like a clown car honking. When it became apparent he was staying with us, I bought two hens for him, so it's pretty hilarious when all 3 get riled up and are honking. None of them are breeding age yet and that keeps him quiet so far. Just when I was getting used to cackling hens & crowing roosters - Mother Nature decided I needed to get used to peafowl honks! XD

I really enjoy looking at everyone's photos here. Everyone has such great looking birds!

Bo and Hope...these are the days of our lives after all. Haven't had little ones in quite awhile but so far so good. Of course it's only been 24 hours since one of my local postal customers met me on the dock with a couple "culls". I had mentioned earlier in the day that my grandsons wanted me to hatch a few eggs this spring. Guess we got a head start on that idea!

Cute! They remind me of my chicks that are now adults. Their names are Avril and Hope. Girl and boy. We named hope because she was the only girl out of a batch full of cocks. So we hoped she was a girl.

Interesting. My dad is positively dying for a peacock, but the fact that they have a reputation for being noisy has thus far prevented us.

From what I've learned the past 5 months I've had him around (not a whole lot), they only do that crying woman noise that everyone hates during their breeding season & they aren't of breeding age until about 2yrs old. I can't remember the exact months, but I think their breeding season lasts from spring to the end of summer. Other than that, he's super stealthly & that's why he got named after a special forces character from my favourite show. They are extremely curious & like to wander far to check things out, but it seems that if they find a place that offers good feed & protection they stick around.
