my easteregger just started laying. She laid a perfect blue green egg a few days ago. This morning I found poop with yolk in it and she has a messy bum. What should I do?

I just went out to check her.. i’m New to chickens, so I googled where the crop is (!) and there isn't A visible bulge but I can feel that she has food in it. The rest of her seems normal. She Laid her first egg 2 days ago and then did this sometime this morning.

Sorry about your pullet. It looks like some yellow in the poop which looks a bit like egg matter. How is she acting, and is she eating and drinking? Is her tail held down or is she holding it up? I would observe her for the next day, perhaps in a dog crate with food and water, on a puppy pad to see what her next dropping look like. She might be showing signs of a reproductive disorder or liver problem. More poop pictures are welcome.

If it were my girl, I’d just watch her and see if she seems to be acting normal. Sometimes when they just start to lay, they take some time to sort out the plumbing. They may lay a shelless egg or double-yolks or a shell without an egg or a tiny bit of white in a tiny shell... weird stuff.

Eggcessive definitely knows way more about this sort of thing than me. I have noticed though, that the odd occurrences tend to sort themselves out more times than not. The egg and the poo coming down the same chute, it seems possible to me she may have released a yolk without the white or the shell and it broke en route and got mixed in with feces. If that’s so, there’s probably more yolk to come as that doesn’t look (from the pic) like enough yellow matter to represent a whole yolk (if it is actual yolk)...

Thank you.. I did find more yolk on the ramp of the coop..but none in the nesting box. She has only laid 1 egg so far so I hope it’s just a hiccup of sorts. She seems happy and active. I will watch her tomorrow, I only have 2 pullets and interact with them a lot as they free range in the backyard. She is almost 8 months old and an easteregger.
