Hey Guys!

I’ve had a hen for almost a year now! She’s the sweetest! Loves to cuddled etc.

Lately she has been pooping yolk out. I’ve been giving her warm baths, I checked her cloaca and everything seems to be alright down there! She eats, drinks water.

She just has a slight problem and I don’t know what to do anymore! Someone help! What can I do for her to stop pooping yolk out !

P.s. - somethings she poops out the skin of the shell of the egg but it comes out in pieces and it’s soft.

Help!!

I’ve posted pictures of her poop & the skin that comes out.

Thanks for joining us!

From pictures posted and your description, I would say she has "Egg Drop Syndrome".
Please post this question in the ER section for a better explantion!

Hey there 007Sean!
Thanks for the response
Im kinda new to this whole thing of having chickens as pets. Is the Egg drop syndrome life threatening?

Just in case, please post on the" Emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread" retained tissue , yolk etc may set up / or be indicative of female problems.
Hey there Drumstick Dive!
I will certainly put on the ER threat but can this be life threatening to the chicken?

Hey there Firekin1!
No, I have been feeding her corn and seeds is that okay or am I supposed to be giving her something else?
Welcome.
No that is not a good diet.
She needs a complete poultry feed.

Unfortunately she may have an infection that may or may not be "fixable."
Is a vet an option. She will need antibiotics.

Feeding just corn and seed is not healthy.
Your birds aren't getting the correct nutrition to live a healthy life.

This of it the same as if you at nothing but candy and chips every day...you are destine to have health problems....same thing for chickens.
The better you feed them (a complete poultry feed diet only) the better chances they will be healthy birds.

Can be if it regresses to the lungs! It will cause pneumonia! but that's not very likely.
It's a virus, an infection in the shell gland. Once a carrier always a carrier. That's why BIOSECURITY is paramont.
