One new NN has entered the world, can't tell what the others are yet.

I'm so bad! I won three of Bargain's auctions yesterday and another one (not Bargains) today for LF (giant) cochins. All hatching eggs of course, but that is OK as I have a Little Giant incubator empty in the house. Oh wait, It won't hold 53+ eggs, guess the Sportsman in the barn is going into service earlier than I had originaly planned.

It is starting out to be a great New Year.

Lot of little peeps before the end of January. Sure glad I built two more 3' X 4' brooder boxes simular to the ones featured in Bacyyard Poultry magazine the winter of 2010/2011 last winter.

I just love it when things start coming togather. Guess my 220 sometning chicken count will be going up later this month. Oh that's right chicks don't count, do they? Chicken math, Got to love it.

I hope you all have as much fun this year as I'm planning to have.

Welcome in the new year everybody!

I'm very pleased to admit we have not turned on our incubator as of yet, and my promise to DH of not brooding chicks inside this winter is holding! We could use some of that hatching excitement though! Setting up the breeding pens and will be collecting eggs to set 3 weeks from now. It has been WAY TOO LONG!

If anyone has new pics of their hatches, for the love of Pete, please post them so I can get a chick fix!

These guys will be in the house for the first 3 weeks and then will be brooded in the Bunny barn!

Therefore... no chick dust for me!!!

I hope it works

I am also addicted to anything with feathers. I'm getting my falconers license so that way I can have a hawk, along with my chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, peacocks, lovebirds, quail, (hopefully some pheasants and doves soon along with a couple guineas) And my fiance has promised me an emu before we get married. I just love my birds. That's why I'm majoring in avian biology. Oh and I promised myself I will own a mini owl before I'm 30.

Every spring I buy almost 20 new chicks then hatch out like 25 or more. I make a point of homing and re-saleing like over 75% of that when they grow up. So my coops are not over stuffed. But this year I'm building all new coops. I'm doing this to try and stay busy from buying too many more chicks and I already have a plan. I know I can't stop from buying those little fuzz balls when I see them and I can't resist letting a few babies hatch out. So I'm building a millie fluer only pan and a silkie only pen. And I'm only buying and hatching those two breeds this year... and call ducks I'll be hatching those too... and turkeys, I promised my fiance turkey poults for his birthday... BUT thats it for the year!!.... okay I'll probably get another 20 quail babies to add to my new stock... and if we buy this new farm we are looking at I'm wanting a new goose... still like the idea of getting a couple pigeons too... Okay I have a problem!!!

(but seriously this year I am determined to stick to my plan of millie fluer's and silkies only and to get some new turkeys)
