chicken psychologist needed for imprinted rooster!!

I am trying to practice tough love (like some people say with crying babies, to let them cry, they will get tired of it...), but he is SO noisy that I am afraid my tough love will get me evicted:( Going to try to introduce him slowly to some hens over the weekend. On the other hand, I guess I am nervous that if he gets too attached to the hens, he will end up a "normal" rooster and may attack me... I am too attached to HIM to turn him into soup if that every happens! its a never-ending saga...

I have a pocket rooster too (I literally raised him in a shirt pocket as he was a lone hatcher). He did all the same things yours is doing. I had to introduce him to his hens VERY slowly. It took a couple of weeks- he would crow and crow for me and the girls would pick at him. After those couple of weeks he got the hang of it though, and now he loves his girls. And he still loves me as well (and my hens are alot friendlier towards me because of him, I think). I still look forward to my morning treat- which he'll gently place on my knee when I crouch down to give him his morning skritch under the chin

good luck! Your rooster sounds like he'll turn out to be a well mannered gentleman just like my guy

Headwig is still pretty young! He has been out with the girls for about two or three weeks and he still will follow me, but if I can distract him he will sometimes go grazing instead of following!

I do have a problem with him trying to run out the coop door when I try to leave!

He is getting better!!! I hope yours is too!

I agree, this is first class advice! Roosters are built to have more than one lady, both mentally and physically. Right now the poor little guy only has one lady, and she is gone for half the day! Women are so frustrating!

What is a guy to do, but romance her shoes while she's gone?

Walking around the other hens with him will allow you to intervene if they pick on him too hard, and also should trigger the part of his little rooster brain that's dedicated to taking care of more than one lady. I think you'll always be his first love though
