Chicken "purr"???

The only other roo I had that did something like this was an OEG who would call the pullets to the nest. But i don't remember him sitting and hand-holding while they laid their first egg like this Delaware does. I don't think it's terribly common. He's just a particularly supportive fella

Our roo imitates a good cackle and we think he is preaching the religion of laying to them. He will perch up on a bale of hay that they have for a step up into nests or roost and carry on as if HE is the one laying an egg! He also has no inner clock and crows at all hours.
