Chicken Question

Our chicken just laid an egg in our run, my husband said she either had just laid it or she was sitting on it. He said the egg was totally soft, shell less, almost like a membrane. When she stood up the other chickens immediately ate it. Now she's just standing like this. Usually she'd be chasing me around like the other chickens, but she isn't. Is she alright? It might be the first "egg" she ever laid. We've found 2 other eggs but we arent sure who has started laying and who hasn't yet. She's 5 months old

Shell-less eggs are common for new layers. 5 months is right on schedule. You should begin to get eggs with shells in the next week or so.

There may be another softshell making its way down the pike,
they can act kinda weird with softshells.

I would pop a calcium citrate with Vit D tablet into her twice a day for a week. It will help with the soft shells and the contractions to push them out. It's very hard on them to get them out without a shell to push against.
