I have several Walmarts to choose from, but the one we were at had started their remodel. I didn't see any signs, so I wonder if they will soon. hmm... Well, it doesn't matter. We'll probably get more fabric next week. My dd7 wants to make herself a quilt with one of the chicken blocks, so off we go again. Today is the day we will be working on the blocks for this swap. Wish us luck! (This is my first attempt at applique.)

I fianlly got my first block done, a tester so-to-speak

It's on muslin and I too was wondering about what color to stich around the parts with. I wondered about black, so that it looked folk-art-ish, but then went traditional and stiched in similar colors so it would blend (I'm such a chicken heart, LOL!)

This is the block before stiching around, will she be ok?

Ok new sewing machine is on order!

Found what I wanted cheaper than I expected.

Going to get the longarm next year, as we got a new car this year. But I'll be trying out the fancy stitching on the chicken blocks. (I did some by hand, the rest are going on by machine.

And I have plenty in my budget to buy some designs.
