Ok back with another goofy question...

Putting together my shopping list (if the town ever stops flooding that is).... How much background fabric will i need? (it's ok to giggle, i'll get to why) For some reason my addled brain can't multiply out 12.5 into yards. (need more coffee).

Things to giggle over:

Saddi passed geometry in high school on extra credit. I was getting a solid D- the whole year (no spatial skills here ladies!), the only way I could get the right answer was to draw it out on graph paper, but that doesn't count. Just before the end of the school year there was a food drive for second harvest, 5 points a can. So I took my babysitting money to costco... brought in 5 cases of vegitables and tuna. Since there was no limit on points....

Mr. Gin passed me, with the understanding that i do not take anymore math classes.

Mr Saddi just took a new position with a company in San Diego.

He's making enough to replace the loss of money when i was laid off.

He's so happy i "found a nice little hobby, so i won't be bored"

that he's suggested a trip to the mega joanne's

(it's in what used to be the Costco building, untill costco needed more room to put in gas pumps).

Shopping list so far:

Red & White 4yds
stars 2 yds
spring Flowers 2 yds
Base for chicken quilt ?
batting (uhhh so far 2 crib quilts, a twin Does this stuff just come in a giant bag) ?

I'd rather do it in 1 swoop, so help me Obi Wan, you're our only hope.

I'm thinking 3 yards. You can get 3 across and 4 down for every yard and half.

I'm thinking 4 blocks x6 blocks for the completed quilt top=twin batting

or 2--3blocks x4blocks=2 crib

These are without borders, if you add them you will have to figure more batting.

3 sounds good. Back in '94 my first job was at the cutting table at handcock fabrics. At the time I was making cash doing formal dresses for classmates, cheaper than going to buy them, and the fit was better (My mother helped with zippers, I still won't do them, my wedding gown had 34 french button loops, just so I could not have to put in a zipper). So I have an interesting assortment of silk/organza/satin/lace but no white or cream cotton. Thinking I'll make some dress-up clothes for the children's shelter down the road with that.

I wanna play! Can I have chicken and stars? Would it be too tacky to do the stars in lame'? Or maybe I can find a cotton with glittery embellishment. There may be some Christmas fabric still on sale at JoAnn's. My dear friend just returned from her vacation place in Boone, NC. She always stops at MaryJo's. I was there once - it is a super place. If you need another participant, I think she or another friend would like to join. I've already copied the website to a few friends and family. Love to all, Caroline
