Chicken Quilt Block Swap---BLOCKS ARE IN THE MAIL!!!

I'm planning on doing mine assembly line style. I had 2 yds of wonder-under left from when I was a girl scout troop mom (long story, my mom was leader for my sis' troup, and the co-troop mom got in an ugly divorce, began binge drinking, and dressing like britney spears at 50... at scout meetings). I'd just turned 18, and became the other brownie "mom" as none of the other parents wanted to and you need 2 adults to run a troop. The girls did a charity quilt for the children's shelter in town.

So I'm tracing 24 combs next to each other, to figure out how much red to buy, then feet, then wings, etc. Since my math skills are iffy I'll trace each part, measure out how much I need based off that, and go shopping. It's low tech, and probabilly the slow way, but it'll work.

Would you believe I got kicked out of Brownies in my 2nd year??!!

As a kid or as a leader? I was completely unqualified to do it, but the other mom was having a boozy midlife crisis so....

As a kid. The leader didn't appreciate that I knew more about "Outdoor Skill & Craft" than she did. or the fact that after she told me to shut up, I didn't tell her she was standing in a bunch of poison ivy which she was highly allergic to.

I don't think that one's your issue... just saying.

I've raided my "home-spun" stash! This is the last of it. Used it for the BYC Town quilt last year. I'm going to use those for the background fabric. They are washed and cut. Now what to make the chickies from. Decisions, decisions, decision..................................

I like the idea of tracing all 24 pieces onto the fuse-y stuff first to get an idea of how much fabric you need. My brain works better in pictures than in math, LOL! So I'm copying your idea
