I use a platform that they jump up on rather than a ramp. It saves a lot of space.

I was thinking on using coolcanoechic idea x but with steps instead so it would be metal mesh steps

This is my silkie coop. We made the ramp and cleats out of leftover lumber. The girls were having a difficult time going up and down. I had rubber shelf liner and added that and no troubles now.

The liner is tucked under both ends of the ramp. Just take it off and hose it off or run it under the faucet. SHake it out to dry and put back on.

Ramps can help make a chickens day easier and stress free.

Nothing sadder than watching a proud rooster slip and fall due to a ramp being too steep or not having cleats.

The picture was taken the day before my first set of hens moved in 4 years ago.

Non-pressure treated 1"x10"x5' with 1"x1"x10" treads roughly 4 inches apart. Painted with white latex, for easy cleaning, with a hinge at the top attaching it to the entry. The hinge allows me to raise the ramp to rake and clean under it.

I've since change the self-service feed design.
