Hello everyone! My name is Harry and I own 8 happy hens (well, mostly.). One of my hens is refusing to sleep with the other 7 and is sleeping in the laying boxes. We have had our chickens for 1 month and it has been like this since the start. I have tried lifting it up every night, but it goes back to the same egg box the next night. Is this normal? Is there a solution? Thank you! Harry. (See attached pictures)

You could close the nesting boxes in the evening , is there enough room on the perch ?

You could add a lower roost , maybe she gets picked on ?

Your roosting bars are skinny, if she has a sore foot she won’t want to be on them. I’d add a 2x4 roost lower then the rest .

I had one who slept in the nest every night also. Turned out she was a he:) Don't know if that's common for roos, but he sure had no interest in sleeping anywhere else.
