Ah, I remember my dad cutting spurs off when I was a kid. He had fighting cocks. They use to bleed and make a big fuss when he cut them. I hated seeing him do it, if I knew you could just twist them off with out hurting the bird I would of told him that back then lol. Out of all the chicken breeds I keep, it seems like mine don't grow very large spurs. I have silkies and lavender bantam ameraucanas.

Yea ihave some games and other big breed birds. Although I do have a 4 year old bantam rooster that I finaly had to pull his spurs because they had gotten so length to them. I also pulled a pair of my frieds turkey tom. IT was longer than my index finger!

Yeah those turkeys can get big ones. I use to raise royal palm turkeys about 8 years ago.
