I don't think the people interested are looking for heavy egg layers, but are looking to save a few chicken-y lives
Exactly.
We get eno9ugh eggs here already, but I would just love to help at least a few hens. I would love it even more to save them all, but that's just not possible right now. :rolleyes And my dad doesn't want anymore chickens at the moment, unfortunately.
I signed up for two. I'm happy to provide them with a nice retirement and take the measely 4-6 eggs a week a washed-up battery hen will lay LOL. Honestly, I'm just doing it to be nice. If I was trying to run a business, no, I wouldn't take them but my flock is about enjoyment and I will surely enjoy saving these girls.
I'd totally be up for getting some if I were closer. Hrrmmm...why does this never happen nearby?!
A friend has some Case Farms buildings and when they pick up the layers in Spring, there's always some left behind and she said I can have what I want of those. They will be under a year old, I believe.
