We rescued a chicken recently that was found in a box in an abandoned storage unit of an apartment. She is extremely friendly and docile. We have introduced her to our flock and they have seemed to have accepted her. Unfortunately we do not believe she was raised with other chickens, and she seems to be separating herself from the rest. Does anyone have any experience with this, or any other advice. she is a very sweet chicken and we want the best for her. Please Help!!

That's great that she was rescued and has a loving home. If she wasn't raised with chickens or was raised with bullies then she maybe terrified of them. Time should help things since she is in a new environment with new chickens whom she doesn't know ( think the new kid in school situation) . Chickens don't like change and it can take them weeks to adapt to the silliest little things such as fresh bedding, a new roost etc etc. I would suggest worming her and the usual lice check, etc just to be sure that she is healthy and not bringing in problems that are easily fixed.

I adopted a 5 month old single spoiled hen. She isolated herself from my flock for weeks. It was so sad she didn't have normal chicken behavior. Then one day I went out and she was running around with them like she's always lived here. It just took her time to learn and watch how to behave.
