Your story has such a nice ending, glad she showed back up! We also have a similar story! Up here in the Upper Peninsula, we also had about 8 inches of snow towards the end of November. We had let our chickens out a few days later after the snow had been melting and there were a few bare spots for them to enjoy hunting for critters. One chicken actually got her feet stuck in the snow and wouldn't move, so we rescued her and put them all back into their fenced in area with wood chips. That night we noticed we were missing one of our Easter Eggers and it had stayed missing until just 5 days ago! That is almost 6 whole weeks since she went missing! I saw something larger moving outside of the coop the other day and went down and it was her trying to get back inside of the fence, I finally coaxed her in and we confirmed that we had our usual 34 chickens that night. Not sure what she ate, but I believe she was hiding under a large pile of stacked wood, boards, etc. No snow under there, but we have fox, coyotes, wolves, hawks and other predators that are always after our chickens, so she was sure lucky and or smart! She had snow to eat for her water source and must have found a supply of bugs or something under that pile of wood!
