I have a 50 square foot chicken run attached to the coop. I have 4 chicks but at some point will probably have 6 hens total. How often should I let them out of the run and into the yard to scratch around and eat bugs and grass? Does this need to be a daily occurrence or is their run sufficient for free ranging with yard time 2-3 days a week?

As often as you wish.

I let mine out about two hours before sunset and they will go in on their own, Very manageable.

And don't feel guilty if I skip a day or two.

According to my hens, there can never be enough free range time.
But you should be fine for the scenario you describe. 6 is a bit tight for that run.

Keep in mind they will make a bee line for your flower beds and garden areas and any other place you don't want them to go.
