Update I know it's been a while but here goes,
I did end up cutting some 3" strips of heavy canvas and screwed them to the out side of the coop door I started with just a few pieces , they seem not to mind it there, as of now the whole door is close off with the strips and they go in and out without any problems I found it helps with the cold weather up here and the heat stays in the coop, so it does work been up for a year now and all is good and chicken are nice and warm without closing the door each night.
