Hi guys
I was just wondering, we are getting some chickens and ducks, the fox ate our last lot, and I was wondering, what is the better floor material for a chicken run, this is not a mobile run it is staying in the same place, I was thinking wood chips or grass, any ideas?

I'd be surprised if grass lasted a week. Chickens will eat it and scratch it down to dirt in no time flat.

Is the run covered? If it's not covered then sand would be a good choice as long as it's not in a low spot for water to pool. You want water to go through the sand but still drain away from the run so it doesn't get waterlogged.

If it is coverend then you have more options to go with wood chips or deep litter methods.
