What material did you use on the roof of your run?
I've been looking into a sunshade for roofing but we have high winds here
I need something chicken proof and that wont endanger wildlife, cats, ect when jumping on top of it. 10x20 chainlink dog run area and someway to 'dome' it

I literally just put a chain link fence on top and bought plywood to just set on the top of it. In the winter I pull it off so it doesn't collapse in the center and I put it back on in the spring. My cats like to climb the fence and walk on the plywood since its 6'5ft off the ground.

Do you get much snow where you live? My run is 8x24 and is completely covered in hardware cloth. I have a 14 foot tarp covering a little over half of it. I usually get a year (sometimes 2) out of a tarp. When I put it on I cut a few slits in it to let water drain off of it. In the winter if we get a snow I will go use a broom and push the snow off if it gets more the 4 inches or so on it. Every year i have told myself I am going to build a metal roof for it but the last three winters we have had very little snow and I have only had to sweep it off once or twice a year so it's no big deal.

Have you consider ground cover or underneath roof material? It would last much longer.

If you can do some or all of it with a solid permanent cover, it will help keep the area drier. Ours is framed with 2"x 3" with a flat roof. Covered that with plywood. It is not perfect and I do have to rake off snow. But, it is functional.

This picture shows the underside after a decent slow storm. We also cover the sides with plastic in the winter.
