Chicken run

Unfortunately a lot of people end up in that situation with the premade coop. They sell them with a certain amount of chickens but I don’t know where they come up with these amounts. Whatever they say it’s for I usually cut that in half. It makes me crazy that they sell them like that. Generally for a coop you would want 4 ft.² per chicken. I bought a premade coop run thing just for introducing the young ones or using it as like a chicken hospital if somebody is not feeling well. The one I bought said for six chickens. If I put six chickens in there they would not be able to move. I couldn’t even see two chickens being happy in that little thing. But the people who sell them know if they claim you can fit more chickens then you’ll be more likely to buy it.
I agree, they didn't care where we put the chickens now that i think back on it. They just wanted me to buy their chickens. I just cant bear to have them cramped up like that. It breaks my heart. That's no life for a living creature. If i cant figure this out i pray i can find a loving home for two of them :( but God only knows how i will chose between them. They are my babies and they are so sweet. One of them is even a cry baby that if she gets separated from the others by merely feet and if she cant see them she cries and cries looking for them. They're so lovable....

They formed their flock now. Yes the people selling those coops are smart. They know people are usually buying them when their chickens are still very young so when you look at the coop when they’re young you’re thinking surely no problem six sitting in there they’ll have plenty of room. Then they grow up. And then you’re looking at it going how in the world There’s got to be someway you can be able to keep those girls. You obviously love them if you would be willing to do that so they could be happy and healthy people Some people wouldn’t. Are predators a concern where you live? At least during the day

You know, sure the chickens could use a few more square feet of space but I think it's fine! If that's all you gotta work with then try to tidy up the run, put the food and waterer in the corners and make that wooden block riser for the feeder smaller, and whatever else that big wooden thing next to it is........ throw away! That'll free up a little bit of precious space, if it gets too crowded for your chickens and they are getting at each others' nerves, one or two of them can always go back into the coop to chill in there and listen to their iPods.

Thank you all for the responses. Hubby will not make the run bigger. I thought from the very beginning that his measurements were too small. The coop itself is measured at :47"(L) x 38"(W) x 47"(H). But the run is only i'd say 2 ft by 4 ft. I think i may have to at least at this point take out the large watering bucket and food dispenser and put smaller ones in there and just refill them daily. I have a perch and a swing that i think i'll just keep in there for them to get off the ground when they want to. There's also a stand in there for their food bucket, Ill take that out too. I feel so bad for them but hubby wont change it or buy a bigger run :(. If it's still too small i may have to re home two of them as it's really not fair for them to live like that....
Keep the chickens and rehome the hubby! :D

I believe these dimensions included the nests??
I assumed they were pop out nest boxes. Those are what usually come on the prefab ones. That does change things. I think if she felt comfortable free ranging them during the day and putting up some sort of fence between her and the neighbors just to keep the chickens on her side would be the best option
