I've noticed some dropped softshell eggs off the roost lately, not sure what's going on. Oyster shell and eggshell are both available. I found one this morning.

I've got a girl with a pale comb, but no other symptoms. I've got a girl who seems listless, off by herself, slightly pale comb, droopy tail, and she is mouth breathing...her nose seems plugged up. No coughing, sneezing, discharge, puffy face, nothing. This girl is not the egg dropper, she laid today.

I have another one who's pinker than normal, but otherwise seems normal. She may be the egg dropper.

I have some fishmox and VetRX and some duramycin. No avian vets anywhere near me.

Any thoughts?

What does their poop look like?
How old are they?
I am wishing the best for your hens.

Poop on the board in the morning looks normal, but this girl just did a white runny poo with black chunks in it that looked normal.

She's been open mouth breathing for some time, but I thought it was just the rapid transition from winter to summer (we really don't get spring where I live. It's cold, then it's very hot, often in the same day for weeks.)

They're all 11 months old.

Can you maybe get a picture of their poop?
And are their tails feathers low (how are they standing) have they ever had any odd eggs in the past?
Are they eating and drinking like normal?
What do you feed them?
Do they free range?
How do their crops feel?
Do their vents look normal?

No photos possible, everyone has normal poop. This girl had normal poop until just this once. There's often an odd egg here and there. They are all normal except this one. She has somewhat of an appetite for treats. They eat organic feed from Kalmbach feed or Harvest Feed. They free range. Vents look normal, but there is some dirtyness in the butt fluff. Crops feel normal.

No visible lice/mites/parasites on skin or in poo.

A pale comb can simply be a sign that hormones are not active. That one, just keep an eye on.

The hen with the lethargic behavior and the gaping beak is under stress, likely from egg issues. I would bet she's the one who is dropping soft eggs onto the poop board during the night. Give her one of these every day until she's producing normal eggs and reverts to her normal behavior.

Distressed girl has been laying every day, a fine brown egg, including today after I found one on the roost board. No laying problems at all.

She's breathing through her mouth because she can't breathe through her nose. I held her beak shut and could hear the congestion. But no coughing or sneezing, she just seems stuffed up. When I said "She's been open mouth breathing for some time" I mean "weeks", not a few hours or days. She definitely seems like she doesn't feel good today though, whereas before, she was relatively normal.

Can low hormones mean that the eggery may not be fully online maybe in the very slightly pink one?

I misunderstood about this hen. Do you have any idea which hen is leaving the soft egg material during the night? Might you make a note of each hen's location on the perches tonight so you can figure out who has this problem? It should be treated, even if it isn't this particular hen with that issue.

Usually, low hormones would interfere with egg production as they control ovulation.

Do the nares on this hen appear to be crusted over? It is possible to clean them out with a Q-tip dipped in warm water. The nares are joined as one so you should be able to see daylight from one to the other.

No worries. My fault for asking about two problems in one post.

I'm going to have a look tomorrow at her nose and see what I can see. But she was definitely also acting sick today and pale, which until today, she hadn't been.

I'm able to tell which hens laid which eggs, so I've been waiting for a day when I get a soft egg and all but one egg. So far, no cooperation.

I'll keep this post updated if anything interesting happens, good or bad. Thank you!

She's still very sick this morning, but her color's a bit better and she's breathing through a closed mouth at least sometimes. I can't see through her nares, but I'm not sure I'm looking right. She seems to have...flaps over them? She's definitely got diarrhea. Her crop was not empty this morning, but it wasn't super full either. Just a bit of doughy crap in it. She was drinking.

And there was a soft egg on the roost board again.
