Chicken saddles

Those were old pictures from last year. Unfortunately she passed away before she fully grew all her feathers in. She got sick from a heart issue she had.
But I did use it on my other hens and they all grew in there feather really nice and smooth! View attachment 4060530

Oh okey, I was wondering how much time does it take to grow her feathers? I have one hen who has bald back just like yours, I put saddle on her yesterday and I wonder how much time it is going to take. Sorry for my english but it is not my first language

Not sure, but I think the feathers will be gone until the next molt, which should be sometime around fall.

They should start growing in either when she starts molting or she may just want to grow them in. It normally takes around 1-2 months for all the feathers to fully grow in

does anyone take the saddles off periodically, or see the need to, to give the hens a break?

Yes, I do! And sometimes I'll bring them inside so they can clean them selves and rest. Normally when they start there molt is when I bring them in.
