Chicken Scalping!!! HELP!!!!!CAUTION GRAPHIC PICTURES!!!!

Got home from work today and went to check on the feathered friends and got the fright of my life. This poor girl, looks like one of the roosters tried to kill her. I am VERY new to chickens so I am very concerned about her. I was able to get her out of the coop and into a small kennel. I'm looking for some advice! Was thinking I should try to clean it off as much as possible with warm water. Any kind of spray or ointment I should use? It is freaking me out because it is on her head. She is acting normal (as could be expected) and eating/drinking ok.

Has this happened to anyone else before? Needless to say those roosters will be hitting the road.

Neosporn,Neosporn,Neosporn I had the EXACT thing happen to my chick an the neosporn worked great I highly recommend using it!!!! Apply twice a day, once in the morning an once in the night before she goes to bed!

Please MAKE SURE that the neosporn you have does NOT have painkiller in it! It is harmful for chickens.

These chemicals are harmful to the animals and the people who eat the eggs and the meat. There are non-toxic options to every single chicken disease a(and human health condition ) and illness, even ones where the drug industry claims there is no treatment.

For this chick, I would use Sovereign Silver. Silver is extremely healing and antimicrobial and was the antibiotic of choice before antibiotics received theur first drug patent. Silver went by the wayside when patents on antibiotics were approved. You can't make money on a natural substance, that's why.

People complain that the doctors are overprescribing antibiotics (which is true) and the big factory farmed animals living in toxic/horrific living conditons which are loaded down with antibiotics (which is true) but the backyard farmer is adding to this antibiotics resistant microbes by always giving these toxic substances to their animals.

People need to do research on epigenetics and understand it because the very survival of the animal and human species depends on it. Always, always look to a natural substance for both animal and human for illnesses and disease. Modern medicine is only good at one thing and it's putting humpty dumpty back together again...emergency medicine.

I believe in natural remedy and I also believe there is a place for modern medicine! If my chicken gets something in its eye silver is a great treatment for that but if my chicken is dyeing of respitory illness I'm going to likely use Bayrtil Or Tylan. I love my chickens and my family and for both I believe there is a time for natural medicine and a time for modern medicine. I personally am glad we have both options and no longer live in the dark ages where the average life span was 30 because lack of modern and medical. Advances. I'm not here to argue with anyone as I believe we are ALL entitled to our own opinions and beliefs .you have made your point and I'm simply making mine.I'm not saying you are wrong I'm simply saying there is a time and place for modern medicine too. Weather its my chickens or my family I'm greatful I have the choice to chose modern.or natural medicine depending on the situation. As I said some things require modern medicine and some require natural in my opinion. One thing that is good news is we are able to choose what is best for our family and our animals. This does not make us wrong. this does not make you wrong for choosing natural.it is simply a choice we need to make on our own as we do what is best for us and the situation at the time

I had that happen to a 2 week old chick and now she is full grown with no feathers on her head. I used bag balm on her after I cleaned it with blu kote. I put Bag balm(udder balm) on her twice a day and it healed nice.
