I'm a new chicken keeper and have 4 Silver Laced Black Wyandottes and 3 Buff Orpingtons that I hand raised. They are about 16 weeks old. One of the Wyandotte pullets seems to have something wrong with her back. The best way to describe it is chicken scoliosis although I'm pretty sure that's not a real thing. A week or so ago we noticed her tail feathers were deviated to the right. She has no trouble walking or flying and seems to have no pain. Her behavior, eating/ drinking hasn't changed at all. She's not yet laying. It seems unlikely it's an injury and more likely it's developmental. Today there looks like a hump on the left side of her back and the tail is even more pushed to the right. My husband and I gently felt the area and spread her wings and it does feel like she's hunchbacked on one side. After we opened her wings which seemed fine, and then set her back down, both wings hang a bit low and loose although she can tuck them in when she wants. Thoughts please? I am clueless.
After I posted this I found some info on Wry Tail which seems to be the issue. What I'm still not sure is how severe it can get, can it kill her and will it effect her ability to lay eggs safely.
