EMERGENCY :My favourite girl silky (who is a warren hybrid) would not come out of the coop this morning. I have done all of the proper procedures of egg bound (check with lubricated gloved finger etc) and I can not find an egg or egg shells anywhere. She doesn't want to move, drink or poop and she will only eat fresh corn. She is currently sat in a warm bath relaxing but I'm not sure what it is. Please help. UPDATE... I have just spotted a slightly darker patch on her comb, not sure if this is an issue or I am just looking for things wrong. She is currently sleeping on me and I am worried that she won't make it forgot to add that I gave her 25mg of amoxycillin.

My silkies were never good layers. They would lay for a week or two, then go broody again. Since you did not feel an egg, she may have something else wrong. Feel of her crop in morning to see if it is emptying normally overnight. Look her over for lice and mites. Instead of corn, offer chopped scrambled egg, wet chicken crumbles, or some canned tuna (rinse salt off with water.) If possible take some fresh droppings in to your vet for a fecal test to look for coccidiosis or worms.

She pooped out a lot of egg white and then a paper thin shell. She is now drinking and eating normally and pretty much returned to normal. Thanks for the help

I am glad that she passed the egg. This can be common. Does she eat layer feed? She could be having a temporary problem with her egg shell formation, or something worse. Put some crushed oyster shell out for her in a seaprate container than her feed to help with egg shells. Past exposure to infectious bronchitis virus can cause problems with eggs shell, such as wrinkled shells or shell-less or thin shelled eggs. She may be a candidate for egg yolk peritonitis if this continues.
