Chicken set up

I used to allow chickens to grub the yard until I got tired of filling holes they dug and frustrated at them destroying my garden. So Hubby built me an 8 x 12 x 7 structure that I wrapped in chicken wire. My yard is fenced and we don't have the 'predators' like in the Mainland. I only keep 3 - 4 and it's been working perfect ... I use a huge plastic dog house for the nest box that they all love to share. The NB was removed, sits on the 'table' that these 10wks olds perch on. Will add the NB later this summer ... the Shower Curtain is for when we get our heavy rains/hurricane.

Here is my current coop, The Little Monitor Coop: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/the-little-monitor-coop.76275/ The Ladies live here.

It sits inside a hundred feet of Premier 1 48" poultry netting, which also has room for this: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/mini-coop-or-integration-pen-from-a-large-dog-crate.76593/ Though I have to admit that I've pulled away the mini-run now that the integration is well under way and the Splits are just sleeping in the dog crate.

Behind the house convenient to the electric plug I have the Outdoor Brooder: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/run-to-outdoor-brooder-conversion.76634/ This is the home of the Ideal Dozen.

But we are building the Open Air Chicken Palace: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/large-open-air-coop-in-central-nc.1443812/

I don't free range because I don't want chickens in my vegetable garden and my SIL, who shares this property with us, would be devastated if the chickens devastated her flowers.

My hens have an 8x8 foot indoor space and a fenced run that is.... 30x50 feet? Our fence is more to keep chickens in than predators out, but the coop is secure at night. Because the coop is raised, they also have space underneath and hang out there in inclement weather. I added a small door on the downhill side of the run so I can let them out to eat grass on the side farthest away from my garden.
