If you're anything like me, your back porch looks a little like this:

(Not the "in need of a good paint job" part, silly - the SHOES!!)

We have a "No chicken shoes in the house" Rule - and since we free range, basically anything worn out back is a "chicken shoe".

Here were my (mostly fair weather, but I've worn them in lots of different weather) chicken shoes for the past two years:

Yep. Ballet Flats from Wal-Mart. They were too big, but perfect with thick, wooly socks; and my birds were forever trying to get the "bling" off the toe. I'm not quite sure how they became chicken (and garden!) shoes, but they were super easy to slip on and off when my hands were full!

So, I've semi-retired them for these: (again, yes, the deck needs paint)

I just wore them for the first time today. They're not as easy to slip on, but I think I'll get used to them.
What do you wear when you "do" chickens?

Those are awesome. Can you just slip them on, or do you have to bend down (horror of horrors, see how lazy I can be?) to get the heel on?
Well, they have a heal but I've managed to smash it down so now they're just slip on's...:lau
I got em at Walmart..:gig
