Chicken Shoes!

I would also highly suggest one of these shoe brushes. I have another one at the farm that I hate. But this one at home is great because its flat. Stand on it on one foot, brush the other foot. Doesn't scoot out from under you that way. It's easy to hose out when it gets muddy/poopy buildup but the rain keeps it fairly well clear.

Ooooooooh! :eek:I want that!!!

I feel a little late to the party & yikes, this is embarrassing, but here's my front porch.
It actually gets worse than this, because usually there's feathers & chicken/duck poop on it too. Picture an additional 4 pair of rain boots out there in the rainy season. The kids pickup the poop everyday, but the chickens just keep ploppin'em out, so we have to keep a stiff brush out there for the indoor shoes.

Love it! That's how a productive house's front porch should look!
Did you all even get to have a rainy season this year? Ours has been super minimal...

So far, pretty minimal here too. There's only one pair of rain boots out so far & those are in a boot tray in the house to hopefully keep the black widows & wolf spiders out of them. Its lightly raining today & we usually get a marine layer that comes in at night. Last year we were flooding. Luckily it didn't get into the house, but the garage was like a little running brook & under the house (enclosed by drywall, but dirt floor) was like a stagnant cesspool. We keep a lot of storage in both of those places & it took the downstairs forever to dry out. I had to keep reminding myself that this was nothing & others were getting it 1,000x worse. Perspective! Perspective! Perspective!

@Joeschooks Was looking for shoe ideas and laughed when I saw somebody else beat me to this thread.. I was going to start one. We are new to chickens and the mud is driving me crazy. What kind of chips did you put down? Maybe this would be cheaper than pavers and easier than pallets.
