Hi Everyone!
New to this- unfortunately one of our little chickens ( 3 months old) have become bloated and falling asleep sitting up, definitely looks sick- does anyone know what this would be?

We had this happen to another one of our chickens a few weeks back. Starts off with it just looking really "puffy" head is tucked in, occasionaly closing its eyes, still eating and playing and then today I came out to check on it and its isolated it self and very lethargic. We have tried giving it vitamins in its water and nothing..

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :welcome
What does their droppings look like? Any blood?
Thank you !!

a little runny no blood that I have seen yet.
I did pick him up the other day and water came out of his beak. Sounds a bit rapsy but seemed to still be doing well the last few days. This morning when I came out to check on him was when I noticed he wasn't eating and drinking or running around with the other chickens just kinda standing there sleeping sitting up.

I would treat for coccidiosis using Corid, just in case, although there is no blood in their droppings.

Have you checked his crop first thing in the morning to make sure it’s emptying? Fluids coming out when picking him up could be a crop issue. If you haven’t already I would check his crop first thing in the morning before he has had anything to eat or drink.

Yes, check the crop in the morning @JORLEE23.

I have not checked his crop. Chickens are VERY new to us.
How do you check the crop?
I did notice his chest feels very full...

The crop is, I guess you could say, is at the bottom of the neck in the front. You say his chest was full yesterday, where was that? If you felt in the right spot he may have sour or impacted crop.
Google "where is a chickens crop" and you'll see where.
Are these your first chickens?

yes these are our first chickens.

When I feel his chest area it feels very "off" just boney and bloated if that makes sense?

very young still only about 3 months

What are my next steps when I find the crop?

Thank you

Sorry you have to deal with sickness so soon.
So it feels like a water balloon?
Could you get a picture of him? What breed and how big is he?
A chickens crop is their stomach, don't know if you new that or not. This is where a chickens crop is, its easy to find.->
