Anyone else's chickens take a mid afternoon rest time? Its so funny to see them all roost and take a break in the middle of the day Then they all come back out to play in the evening <3

Also, how long did it take after your chicken started squatting for it to lay eggs? I have a 16 week old Golden Comets and two of them are squatting when I pet them...just curious!

Mine all take an afternoon nap as well.

The squatting was different with every chicken for me. My first to lay had her first egg within a week of squatting. My other two squatted for about two weeks before they started laying.

The main sign for me was that they would be in and out of the nesting box, scratching around right before they started laying eggs.

Oh, and naps....yes, throughout the day they 'lounge'...after morning feeding, and later in day too, especially if it's hot.
