So, I’m going to visit my other home in the city for a few months(July-September), but my relative is going to be back earlier(in about 2-3 weeks). So, since we have turtles(who can survive very long without food or water), what we did is that we fed them a lot before we left, and then in the middle of the vacation we call a close friend to check on them. For our Guinea pigs, it was the same. But now since we’re getting chickens... I don’t think my friend would want to care of 4-5 pets. So, exactly how much work does my friend need to do(for the chickens)? Because she can’t spend THAT much time with the chickens. If you need further information, please tell me! Thanks.

They will be 4 months. 2 of them.
Ok, so since they aren't chicks they don't need special care. I would leave them with a waterer that holds about 5 gallons of water, put it in a spot it will have shade all the time. Do you feed your chickens free choice?

Then I'd leave them with 5 gallons of water and a 5lb feeder full, that should last them about a week. What about closing your chickens up at night and letting them out in the morning?
(I'm not planning to free range my chickens.) I am going to close them up at night, yes, and in the morning they can wander around a huge fence that covers a lot of space. It's predator free(I think, and I hope).

If it's not mandatory they be closed up at night because they have a predator proof run, I'd say your friend needs to check on them about every other day. Get a large feeder and drinker, and your friend can gather eggs and insure everyone is looking okay, and shake down feed in the feeder once every other day.

Thank you!! :goodpost::thumbsup
