One of my older chickens started brooding on eggs which I thought was normal so I pulled the eggs under her out and she went down. I checked her right now and it is night and she isn’t perching. She normally doesn’t sleep in the nesting box. There aren’t any other symptoms I can see. Should I be worried since this is her first time doing this.

I pulled the gold balls for them to lay in the nesting boxes and she perched so hopefully it is solved.

i pulled the eggs again and she looks fine but she keeps contracting her muscles looking like she’s trying to push an egg out. Should I give her calcium?

Now she seems panicky and keeps making noises. She has always been a chicken that is skittish. She actively lays. Could I have just scared her?

I’ll try to do what you said to do earlier if she’s broody.

Simply taking away eggs doesn't normally break a broody.

Is she all puffed up with her wings spread out and making angry chicken sounds?
Yes, she is. Does that mean she’s broody?
