Hi all!

We have 3 chickens and 5 ducks (including drake) we have hatched ducklings before through a broody duck that didn't end very well (partly because I believe I interfered to much) and now we have a broody chicken that appears to be set on those duck eggs. This time I want to intervene as little as I can and if she suceeds in hatching them then take them away and put them in brooder (and probably sell them as my parents don't want anymore ducks but I love ducklings and stuff so yeah 😂)

Any thoughts on what I should and shouldn't do?

I've had chickens hatch muscovy eggs. They did fine. It's good you aren't allowing the chicken to raise the ducklings as that can mess them up a bit and they don't see themselves as different species, and you can have issues when they are adults.

I had a chicken hatched some duck eggs and she stepped on and killed several of them so I snatched the last two away quickly. It was her first time and she’s a big girl eight pounder chocolate, English Orpingtons. I think I would let her try again though, and I bet she would do better.

Well... I thought she was dedicated too those eggs but like 3 days after (maybe even 2?) she stopped sitting on them lol... thanks everyone for the info tho!! Maybe she will do it again in the future lol
