Chicken sleep.?

Do chickens need to go in the coop at night.?
My two chickens sleep outside their coop in a pot with a little plant in it. They do not go in their coop and I was wondering if this is bad for them.? If it is bad then how do I get them to stay in the coop.?

I think the only real dangers are predators and weather. Are they in a secure run? Is the weather nice? If so, they're fine. What kind of roost do you have in the coop? You can try moving them every night. I've had mixed results with that. Or get rid of the plant, so they have to find a new place to roost.
