Snakes are usually drawn to chicken pens by the rodents but they also eat bird eggs in the wild. Make sure you deal with an rodent problem first and that will be one less draw for the snakes. Rodents leave a trail of pee and poo every where they travel, some birds of prey can see the trails in the UV spectrum, leading them right to your coop.
