Chicken sounds and noises

Today, while they were in the dustbath my chickens started making a funny noise they were lying down with their eyes closed and they sort of did a chicken version of a purr. Any more information on this I would love to hear.

I hear that 'purr' coming from my girls sometimes. I just take it that they are content and enjoy hearing it. If there is more to that sound than that, I would be interested in learning more also.

A few of mine do something similar to that. I think it means they are content, at least they seem that way. All mine make such different noises from one another. But they are all a different breed.
