I put the bottom of a kennel and a milk crate on a 6x6 with a piece of board for the pop door over a year ago and it was supposed to be temporary... well I finally got my round-tuit for that project and built some chicken stairs and incorporated the grit, egg shell and oyster shell bowls into the stairs. I know it will look like crap in a few days but it was fun to make something from scrap bits of wood. Some of the wood came out of the firewood pile!

I found a JET wood lathe in Arkansas that had an issue with the variable speed for not much. I assume the guy could not figure out how to take it apart and replace the worn parts because he had the replacement parts.

Yes, I made them from some red oak boards and used a hole saw to make the basic shape then turned them on the lathe. It was a bowl turning experience for sure.

The one on the right is for my sister it has a black walnut strip between the top and second board. I like it the best of all the bowls I've turned so far...
