I just dusted my chickens, they were infested with mites and they are still there. I did it an hour ago so should I wait for results?

:welcome :frow What did you dust them with? Most products do not kill the mite's eggs so repeated weekly treatments are necessary for 3 or 4 weeks. I use poultry dust with permethrin. I also put the poultry dust in the nest boxes. Try over the counter lice shampoo for people. If you want to bathe your birds, every over-the-counter (OTC) treatment for head lice contains either pyrethrins (Rid or Triple X) or permethrin (Nix). They are effective treatment. They only kill live pests, including mites but not the pests eggs.
