Chicken Stomping Feet and Obsessively Itching

Hello all,

One of our chickens is stomping her feet and then itching herself with her beak. She has been doing this for a few weeks, and I have inspected her thoroughly three times, and every time I don't see anything amiss other than some dry, flaky skin. Do chickens suffer from dandruff? I have noticed her comb/eyes looking a bit paler, but it has also been starting to get hot so I assume that's from heat.. This morning when I checked on her and it was still cool it was red. We are in Southern California.

I feel bad for her! Please advise if you have any experience with this, or know something I don't.

All.of those symptoms point to mites. You need to check at night when they're roosting. Mites dont stay on the birds but bite them at night

Thanks, I will check her tonight. None of our other 3 hens are displaying these symptoms... I'm really hoping for dandruff haha.
