I don't know what I am doing wrong ! We have a black copper maran who finally started laying , she was almost 7-8 months old. She did great up untill the 25th of last month. We haven't seen an egg from her since. She was laying every 2 days one day off. We know she is healthy , their food is 22 % protien. They have access to ground egg shell, there is plenty of water. Any idea on how I can get her to start laying again. She has the chocolate dark brown eggs and we miss them !

Are you in a place thats hot or cold this time of year. Because she could be broody or molting depending on weather.
t's cold here one day , hot the next. If she is broody she must be laying in a nest other than the ones (6) we provide. I never see her in the hen house. We do have a cornish hen who has raised 3 clutches of eggs and yes she is getting broody again It's Spring ! Plus she continues to lay even through she is sitting on her own egg until we take it away.

Do you free range?

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

We live in southern alabama, When everyone else (2 weeks ago) were having 2 ft of snow the temps here were 65-73. Monday the temp dropped to 30 after being in then 60's all week end. It's been in the 40/50's the past 2 days, they say it may be in the 70's tommorrow or later this week end. . YES they free range

She may be laying out in range area.....or maybe she's thinking of going broody too?
Usually they stop laying before seriously setting.
