My Mother went in to close my chickens to find one of our chickens on the roof. She got the chicken down, but it was very unresponsive, not moving or even reacting to my dog. It eventually walked into our chicken coop. Later I went out to check on her, she was in the box, acting more active, even flying and cuddling with my other hens. Now my question is, was my chicken scared/attacked or is it some sickness? Please respond asap. It will be greatly appreciated.

Does this chicken often spend time on the roof? If this isn't her normal behavior, then something scared her into flying up there.

Yes, a chicken can go into shock after being severely frightened. If you have electrolytes, give her some to counter the shock. If you have Gator Aid, that will also work.

She should be fine after another day.

Thank you very much! This is the first time she was on the roof. If we were to give her Gatorade, how would we give it to her? In a water bowl?

The important thing is to figure out what scared her. If it was a predator, he will be back. Do you have a run? Is your run completely enclosed, including over the top? If so, with what? Does your run have a skirt around it?

My chickens slurp Gator-Aid from the bottle cap as I'm drinking some on a hot day while working. They adore the stuff, especially the red flavor. Of course. They will drink it like water. Any container will suffice.

We have a little fence surrounding our chicken coop, the chickens play in it during the morning, I let them out when I go to school, then they go back in st night. So far I haven't seen any predators but I have seen signs such as owls and raccoon poop.

Okay, thank you. I will have to pick up some Gatorade later.
