Chicken swallowed a bolt

The fact that it's stainless steel means it won't rust or tarnish, but doesn't mean that it's not possibly toxic. I have a stainless steel hip joint, and if it wears excessively it can cause tissue death around the joint and a host of nasty problems throughout my body and organs.

Thank you for letting me know, I had only read about zinc-plated hardware being a concern, and requiring a vet to give her a shot of calcium edta to prevent heavy metal poisoning. This worries me, but we will know for sure about it having been a bolt when we can get an x-ray done, hopefully.

The bigger the hen the less the problem - but for a small bantum this would be a bigger problem.

She is a standard Welsummer. Not the biggest bird, only 4.3 lbs at the moment, but bigger than a bantam.
