Chicken swap Milford TSC June 21st (new date)

Quote:
Ahhh thats so cute you saved his life. I just did the same with 3 chicks thismorning, We changed them over to a bigger area but the light bulb was low and i did not know that, woke to one dead and really cold chicks, 3 were really bad, so i put them in with the newbes for more heat, and put a higher bulb in with the others.

And quails? They are so adorable, I wish they would let me hold them but are to squirmy. I have them because i hatched them and that they are just do cute. but really there purpose is that some people raise them to sell to farms for food or there eggs, That what i know, i don't know if there is any other purpose for them, but to make me love how cute they are.

They make the most cutest noise, i love it when mine crow. And one is making a noise that sounds like a cricket, whats that i don't know, but it is to cute.

the cricket chirping noise is a hen calling, the crowing of course is the cock.

I'm about done breaking my mom down into getting 2 EE's this weekend! Is there a way of knowing what they'll look like when they're full grown? My mom wants the pretties. I want them to lay greenish/blue eggs. I don't care what they look like, they are all cute to me. But my mom wants them to be a pretty addition to the flock.

chickn, if you haven't figured it out yet, the SS have white undersides and a V of brown on the forehead, the gold laced are more tan underneath and have more of a broken up speckley look to the sides of the head, and silver laced don't have the brownish tinge that the GL have.

Goldlaced_Girl, oh no! 7 of your 8 quail are cocks! That's got to be a bummer! Or did you get more than 8 in the end?

Shay, is your thyme just the basic kind? If so I'd like a plant! We found lemon thyme where we usually get our plants but couldn't get regular thyme.

OK folks, brand new offering. A friend of mine can send with me a breeding herd of fancy hamsters and all of their supplies. Here is her post to me (she doesn't include the cost of the supplies, please ask me if you are interested and I will find out):

1. Panda bear proven breeding female
2. Harlequin proven breeding female
3. Banded cream young female
4. Tri color young female
5. Banded blue teddy proven male
6. 4 litter mates including: 1 blue male, 1 panda male,1 black bear female,1 panda bear female

Would like to get $50 for all.

P.S.
I have practically new 10 gallon tanks with covers and wheels for all. I can put together a package including their tanks if anyone is interested. Would be a GREAT start for someone looking to get into raising hamsters.

(don't forget that Gypsy has an awesome habitrail system up for sale too!)

I also still have my one Wyandotte cross pullet (pale gold color) $5

Barb, I will have hatching eggs for you. Your pack will be Mostly Wyandotte crosses, but also, since you were the first to respond and because my Silkie is molting and not going broody (and I don't want to break out the incubator until late August), 4 purebred buff Silkie eggs! Should be fertile, from stock from Poultry Run Farm!

As for other hatching eggs, not sure I will have any more since DH accidentally left an 18 pack, he had collected, outside in the sun all day Wednesday and the hens are not laying so much the past few days. I think it's because I have broodys in the two favorite buckets that are not playing nice right now. Their eggs are set to hatch on Sunday. I candled last night and discovered the two Mille eggs never developed

(for those of you that bought Mille cross eggs in your packs, I'm afraid they might not be fertile.

Very much not intentional. My Mille hangs around with the roo all the time so I just assumed they had been mating but perhaps not.) but the EE egg looks good. My Light Brahma (cochin cross?) bantam hen has three that she is sitting on that seem to be developed. So hopefully on Sunday I will come home to some cute little peeps in the coop!
