Oh boy! Chichester this Saturday?

I still have too many roosters!

I need to re-home another large Cochin. He's another "pullet" that I bought last fall...but I was warned it could be a rooster...and of course... it turned out to be a rooster. He has amazing foot feathering with 3 1/2" - 4" long feathers. He's mostly blue with red eyebrows, red in his hackle feathers and a little white in his foot feathers.

soooo...... what color are your japanese?

I have a black tailed white roo and a frizzled black tailed white hen.

yes the 12 rule does apply to keets. you can combine keets and chicks to get to 12. pretty much all of us just raise them till they are 4 weeks old so we can sell small amounts and not have to worry about brooder lights.

Here's What my Japanese look like

Heres one of my hens...have 2 of this color

how are you doing with the d'anvers?

They are doing well. I love those fuzzy tiny faces. I have Porcelain and Dun Quail that I will be breeding. They should start giving me some fertie eggs s in the spring. My silkie mix that I got from you is a baby hatching machine! Just went and got her 2 Polish, 1 EE, and 1 cochin mix to hatch out, yipppeee!. I do have three extra porcelain Cockerels for $5/ea. They were born on Easter and will mature quite nicely as the breeder I got them from has some really great stock.

Glad the swaps are going well for everyone. I love going to them but the weekends are so busy with graduations and cookouts right now.

I love the fuzzy faces too. I swear anything that is even part silkie will try to hatch a rock if there is nothing else available. I gave one eggs recently because she was trying to hatch a dryed up english muffin.

you will have to keep us posted on the egg progress. sounds like you are doing great. I still love to watch them develop and hatch. It never gets old. my parents let me have all the pets I wanted. They said it kept me home and out of trouble. at the time I worked at a pet shop. I had a room full of small animals,4 hutches full of angora rabbits, himalayan kittens, and dachunds. I sold most of what I bred to the pet shop

You were so lucky! The only thing that I think keeps me from that is my dad works from home so we can't have a ton of noise with goats and roosters and laying chickens!
Here's my hatching thread! https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=521324

thanks for the link. I will keep my eye on it.

Oh you still have some left..... You know, idk if our silkie eggs are developing so the fact that you have chickies already sitting there, waiting to be taken home is really quite tempting..... But I can't!
That's great! Are they giving him a hard time at all? He needs a little excitement in his life so if they are, good for him!

I sent you a pm about silkies. how old is your female? my quail live in the chicken coop in a cage. they are very small and I am afraid they would get picked on.
